Moving, so going through boxes of papers to see what to save and throw out. Came across this one, printed it out in 2015, probably posted it here sometime before, but seemed apropos.

I remember the day I wrote this, I was walking my dog King in the fields behind the house at the cusp of fall. A strong breeze came out the Northwest, from Minnesota across the lakes,to Northern Ohio. The entire wheat field had waves of air blowing through them that looked exactly like the waves cresting towards the beach, only they never broke, but only blew through my vision and mind.

So here it is:

The winds of change
Blow
Whisper in the grass
Shake the shrubs
Dance the leaves
Bend the boughs
Flail the power lines

Sweep the clouds
Thunder the skies
Bring uncertainty to our lives
Blow
Change
Inexorable, Implacable
Inevitable

Stand as an oak?
Bend like a reed?
Snap like a twig?
Sit, and breathe.

Run like a deer?
Flee like a fox?
Fly like a bird?

Dump my memory and press restart.

Be a cloud,amorphous,beyond
Any struggle to be
Detached, above
No karma shall I create
Ascension awaits

My ears ring and Shakespeare doth roll through my brain
Beautiful imagery ne'er shall I attain,
My loves voice returns me to this plane,
Beautiful dichotomy, peonies, tulips, roses and begonias
Injustice, truth, the cacophony of lies
What wonders have we seen?
What beauty in a single flower?
What of every beauty and every moment with every person that we have loved?
Oh that I could absorb it all and hold it in my bosom like a rose that would flower daily only for me in my own hart and live it all again.
Each day for just one moment. Or two.

These winds of change that are upon us shall blow all of these away.
Never again shall we know such multifariousness.
