The posting on RMN doesn't do adequate coverage on this 47th aniversary of the event.
47 years ago I remember hearing the broadcasts of the replays of the transmissions at the time of the attack.
Those replays came so soon after the attack to be totally plausible that they could be remembered, as I am doing now. Later 'they' came up with the hurry up cover up we are now used to seeing or hearing so 'they' could continue to manipulate what we are 'supposed to" remember - and that becomes the 'history.'
I remember hearing the recall of the American jets that were on the way to the Liberty.
I remember the broadcast of some one who heard Lyndon Johnson say he "was not going to order any attack on our FRIENDS" (caps are my emphasis, not his).
I remember hearing the Israeli attack leader tell his directors that the target was flying an American flag, and that the response was to continue the attack.
I remember the lack of effective reporting afterwards, the propaganda machine trying to overcome its blunder.
I remember the shock and surprise among us 'ordinary folks' and among those who couldn't believe what they were hearing'
Lies don't go away, but they may be covered up with so much poo-poo del toro that the next generation will never know what happened.
We need to keep that in mind when we will soon get the obligatory hoo-rah for the American Flag on June 14.
We need to keep that in mind when we will soon get the obligatory hoo-rah for the 4th of July. Woops, that is really Independence Day, not just an excuse for fireworks, hot dogs, and three-legged races.
We just went through what we observe as Memorial Day. Turned into a testimony for the deaths incurred as a consequence of war.
We need to make that more of a teaching moment to memorialize the deaths, of course, but memorialize even more the manipulation by those who promote the wars while ensuring their own distancing of their own deaths, while benefiting from the deaths of so many others.
J'accuse!!
The elected officials who talk but don't express a backbone.
The elected officials who duck responsibility for their actions.
The people who vote that have no memory of our history of all the times we have been conned, while having to experience the crocodile tears of those who set up the con.
Those of us on RMN who spend more time talking/communicating with each other rather than educating and helping those who not yet awake to get their sXXt together.
For themselves. For their children. For ours. For us.
The Liberty is only one of the many times we have had the wool pulled over our eyes.
We need to remember all the other times too. Remember them so we will simply say STOP to the continuing destruction of the reality of what we have become compared to what the rest of the world was able to think about us.
I'm proud to be an American.
I'm damned mad to have been sold out by those who are not.
I'm damned mad that my children are not likely to be able to say the same. Or my grandchildren. Or my great-grandchildren. Or those to come along later.
