I check in, every few days or sometimes once a week, as sign ups for CGI don't happen as often as they used to. When I see a newbie sign up, I OK it and then log out.. Rarely do I ever decline a membership.. Only if it is an obvious 'bot' trying to join.. They give names like 'jsakjftsy' at kijhsfahfsah@gmail.com .. Those are history..
Morfeus.. Just FYI, we can't see your IP when you join, only when you post... The only people who can see that is Hobie, myself and Raye.. Quite a few people use 'hide your ip' browsers or Tor browsers.. A great many use fake names and fake browsers when they write in to us. Why would we care?
: Hi, Morpheus -
: I don't think anyone ever consciously denied you membership.
: It's more likely that e-mails didn't arrive where they were
: intended to, including perhaps the notification e-mail that
: goes out when the enrollment form is submitted.
: I recall there was a period of confusion when Susoni's contact
: e-mail address changed; it was awhile before we realized
: the address for the notification e-mail needed to be
: changed, too. You may have submitted your application
: during that period.
: I have no memory of receiving an e-mail from you on that
: matter, but if I did, it's likely I passed it along to
: Susoni. I'd agree that your following-up on the matter
: facilitated the resolution you'd intended, but not because
: it overcame some imagined conscious resistance.
: The application form does not include an "essay
: section". The information we receive on new CGI
: Room applicants is minimal, with no way to know exactly who
: it is that's applying unless we already know him or her by
: name from private e-mails.
