They sure don't act like it from the way they live. In fact, chicks are programmed out of the concept in so many cultures, and this one to a degree. Being completely self-sustaining is one of the rules. Not being forced to compromise your innate self is another. It's also nice to have the TIME to focus on your own personal evolution, not that the majority even thinks about that, but hey. Putting yourself in a position where you have a gazillion gratuitous obligations and making yourself a prisoner of time seems to be the thing to do.
