I rented this movie from Netflix thinking it was intriguing spy story of behind the scenes activities in the Korean war. But it was much more that that. Without reservation I can say this is one of the greatest movies ever made. The directing, story, acting, and everything about this movie was top notch. It was a stunning and incredible story, which was all true.

A squad of South Koreans infiltrated North Korea pretending to be North Korean communist officers. Their mission was to discover the locations of mines in the Incheon ocean causeway that led to the area. So that General Douglas MacArthur's troops, which numbered in the tens of thousands, could land safely and rescue the Koreans that were occupied by the communists.

It was released in the US last year. I am wondering if there was a reason it was not promoted stronger. Perhaps they didn't want to stir up any anti China (communist) or anti North Korea attitudes. The military plan called Operation Chromite was judged by military experts to be a 5,000 to 1 chance for success. But MacArthur did it anyway, hinging the entire success of the mission on that one squad of infiltrators.

The dedication by those men to the mission was incredible. There were so many variables to create failure that it could have been described as a suicide mission. It makes a person wonder how people in the west can set aside those sacrifices and empower a corrupt and evil empire for over 60 years now.

MacArthur was at odds with the politics of Washington DC, and said that when an army is going to war they should be given every opportunity to win that war without holding them back. They ended the direct fighting in the Korean war without a victory, and they did the same thing in Viet Nam. And yet there is no accounting for these political and military tragedies. When corrupt, fat politicians make deals with an enemy they are spitting on the graves of the men that died in that war.
I highly recommend this movie "Operation Chromite".
