I came across this movie randomly on youtube. It is set up in our current time or within a few years from now. It is about a college student and her boyfriend on their way across the New York City area to meet her parents. Suddenly an emergency is declared on a intercom, and they find themselves in an empty subway underground. They head for the stairs and hear explosions, gunshots and fire. This movie depicts the sudden collapse of the cities into anarchy, chaos, robberies, and gun battles from several sources. It is nearly impossible to figure what caused it. They eventually listen to a broadcast b the government that declares a state of martial law, but no explanation on what caused it. Eventually they interrogate a military guy in black and find out that several states were in the process of seceding from the union and were attacking New York to get the president to accept the secession request. This movie reveals the suddenness of going into urban chaos and the randomness of people being killed and injured. This is not a feel good movie. It was rated R for a good reason. There was plenty of gun play, people killed and bad language.
You are instantly thrust into a world of war as a living nightmare. From the first 7 minutes of the movie my eyes were stuck wide open and I was at the edge of my seat. It wasn't pleasant to watch but I couldn't look away. The action, style of filming, directing, outstanding acting, story line, the sets, the sound of gunfire, explosions and smoke was so real you could smell it and feel the heat. It was so real I didn't feel like I was watching a movie but was actually transported to that scene and feeling what they were feeling. The man that starred in this film was the muscle man from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. He describes how he lost his wife and son at the 911 hits on the New York towers and then joined the Marines, then got tired of the death he saw and became a medic. This movie shows what really happens when the cities devolve into chaos. The people themselves become the enemy. Stray bullets can kill people in an instant. Thieves were running from one apartment to the next robbing and killing people that get in their way. Cars were burning in the streets, and for as far as the eye could see there was a panorama of buildings burning in the distance. I have no idea how they made this movie. I am shocked they were able to get the financing to put all the pieces together to make this realistic film. I recommend renting this movie, even though it is a dark, harsh and a negative subject - it is realistic and insightful to what we actually could face. I rate this 5 stars out of 5 because of its ability to transport a person into these scene and show the raw truth of war and chaos. My conclusion is, as it has been for years - if people want to survive the future they must get out of the cities and avoid violent confrontations at all costs. Militancy is not the answer. Following causes and joining political parties is not the answer. Taking part in political rallies and protest is not the answer. We must withdraw from all offensive warfare and live a life of peace and non-confrontation.
