The situation in North Korea has gotten hot again and who knows what will happen next. But the notion the communists would easily give up their weapons was overly optimistic, IMO. In recent days both China and Russia have reached out to North Korea with high level meetings. This is a disturbing development. Even Lavrov from Russia has visited North Korea and laid a wreath of flowers at the communist graves from the Korean war. It was after a major visit to China by Kim that the meeting with Trump was called off. Something changed in North Korean thinking and policies of the NK communist leaders after that meeting with the Chinese leader. Now we are seeing the Russians having major visits with Kim. It makes a person wonder if they are forming an axis of nations to stand against the US and NATO. The US has now ordered war ships back to the Korean Peninsula.
The middle East situation is still hot with Israel making daily attacks in Syria. However, I was encouraged when I heard about Iranian forces leaving the southern Syrian areas so they would not be involved in the final purge of ISIS in the South by the Syrian army. Assad said in a recent interview that a confrontation between the US and Russia was close but avoided in the past year. Lets hope that continues to be the case. It appears that all of the terrorists strongholds around Damascus have given up and been bused to other regions. I am surprised that Israel hasn't attacked Iran yet, and I am mystified at what they are trying to accomplish by waiting. They have hit dozens of Hezbollah targets in Syria and I heard reports they will continue to do this in any area in Syria where Iranian forces are located. Any real military activity against Israel is nearly zero. A few terrorists shoot small missiles towards the Golan Heights and some other zones, but there has been no injuries or deaths. The big prize for Israel is Iran, and I have no idea when or how they will launch an attack on Iran, but I will keep looking for signs of what might happen. The idea that Russia would defend Syria and Iran from Israel or US attacks has cooled off. No one knows what Russia will do.
The US and the Kurds still occupy 1/3 of Syria across the Euphrates river and are not allowing Syrian troops to take control of the oil wells in that region. It is an ongoing standoff and a few deaths on both sides have been recorded including Russians, Syria troops, YPG(Kurds) and US forces. but verification of this is hard to get. I am not sure what the US is trying to accomplish by holding that ground where they have not been invited into by Syria. But they appear to be daring Syria to attack them. Turkey is also holding the northern area of Syria and making progress against the Kurds. They have been tempted to march towards Damascus to take out Assad.
Ukraine has been heating up with select attacks against the Donesk "rebels" that don't recognize the coup government. The US has set up a large military base in Ukraine and have special forces imbedded with Ukrainian forces. They are doing major raids on select cities and defense positions in the northern regions of the eastern front. Ukrainian and US forces have been making progress against the rebels, which has not received much press coverage. That situation is very dangerous since Russia has quite a few forces embedded with the rebels and dozens have been killed.
Poland has been making substantial overtures to the US to bring in thousands of US troops and set up a permanent base. A report today stated that the Polish government has even offered the US $2 million as an incentive to make this happen. The US and NATO have been building up forces on the eastern front towards Russia as if they are expecting to go to war with Russia someday.
As it stands now the major hotspots are the same : the middle East, Ukraine and North Korea. In addition to that the US is continuing its patrols of the South China sea and a confrontation with the Chinese navy is possible.
In the US there was a strange radio announcement of an emergency situation in an Oregon area and this emptied the store shelves within hours. I have seen several photos of the empty stores. The rumor was that there was a poisonous algae forming in a lake and drinking water source. However, the announcement, which I read, did not even mention a water problem and only mentioned a coming emergency of some kind. Some are wondering if this was some kind of "test" to see how the public would react.
Keep in mind that Trump and Congress have approved an increase of defense spending and there is a war imminent in the next few years. We don't know when the attacks will take place, or exactly where, but things are building in that direction. All of the moves that are being made behind the scenes is for a reason. And, when you see money flowing a certain direction that is tip off to something happening in the future.
In economic news an Italian bank has been failing and there is a possibility of a financial crisis coming from that situation. Deutche bank in Europe is also losing value and could collapse and have ripple affects across the financial world. The US news reports that the unemployment level is lower than ever at 3.8%. This is due partly to Trump's US economic policies and signing executive orders that favored business, eliminated some red tape and government bureaucracy issues. Another reason is the Trump administration continued to use the false unemployment methods used by Obama. The truth is the real numbers are 3 to 4 times higher than what they announce. So much for truth in government. LOL. It is not possible to get real unemployment rates with the 10-20 million illegals in the country and the fact that people are grossly under employed and may have dropped out of the employment roles. The "happiness" factor in the US is very low with inflation, low wages compared to prices and the lack of good paying jobs. Look at the price of rent, housing, and new cars and you can see how unaffordable things are today. The truth is the American economic system is still moving towards a third world model. Trump's policies for the economy have helped but Congress blocks many of the things that need to be done to make even better progress. Trump has strengths and weaknesses with his policies. Unfortunately the weaknesses far outweigh the positives. His weakness is being in the hip pocket of the military industrial complex and doing whatever Israel wants him to do - as if they are "god's incarnate" and can do no wrong. That is a dangerous fairy tale to believe in.
As far as I can tell at this time, the Trump administration is moving slowly forward in maintaining America. This could continue the next 3 years, stall out or get worse. At any time when a major war starts we could be thrust into an emergency situation that would change everything. Once that happens all bets are off to what happens next. But, at this time it is difficult to predict what will happen or even if it will happen. For now, things seem to be stable and calm. I will send out reports when I hear of anything else going on.
