WITH CANADA HEY!!!

Are those of us so few, or so battered by political correctness,

That we dare not fondly remember the days when going across the border was an adventure?
That it was a whole other country a ferry ride away?

Or a day drive? Or you could drive all the way around Niagara Falls without a passport or checkpoint?

Berlin had passports and checkpoints. The chesspoint of East and West.

We must be beyond that thinking. Otherwise we are lost.

I want to be able to go to the Northern Minnesota Boundary Waters, Ice fish where I want, go to the bars I want, say hello to the same people I’ve known for 26 years, and not have some piss ant young asshole border guard try and tell me what to do.

I’m too damn old to defy the law but hogtying him and hanging him upside down from the rafters wafted through the back of my brain.

This is my point. Our Point. The Entire Point of our Existence.

Do we choose to stand now to defend the rights we had as a child?

Are we so lost that we could comprehend doing not?

I like Canada. Most people do. They seem to like us.

So let’s get bi-lateral again.

Transfer resources from the northern border to the south.

I’ll take my chances on terrorists coming in from the North.

Secure the South. Keep those here who have family.

I think that I can honestly speak for all of us in Northern Ohio who know we all interact with our Hispanic population. They bring families, they support the community, work and pay taxes.

There are many generations of achievers. The names I went to school with as a child have children who are leaders.

Why should their legacy, that of legal immigrants who became citizens, be destroyed by that of those who did not sacrifice the same?
