Just another wedding, only 180.
The third this weekend as it has been for the last month or so.
With the Covi; couples planning to get married in the spring postponed the show.
Baby showers with the beautiful offspring already in attendance,
Weddings with the bride visibly pregnant.
Yet, nonetheless, occurring at a rapid rate,
Young people choosing to love, and create.
Attendance is still a third down.
Crazy but we had to serve everyone,
no guests could touch the food,
and going through the line masks were required,
As for us, the servers through the serving entire.
Yet few if any wore their masks at the table,
For then the Covi was not enabled!
Little young flower girls whirling the chiffon of their dress,
spinning till they fell down laughing, mothers in duress.
A grandmother's dance with the groom to "Que Sera, Sera!"
Her choice, her favorite, with her husband long gone.
A man who came to get appetizers,
Grey hair like mine, I asked him, "Why are you the one serving your table?" Because, he said "I'm the youngest one there!"
Asking the family the order of tables to be released to eat,
his was first after them.
For he had saved the life of the grandfather in Vietnam.
As he came through the line I said,
"I understand you are a Guest of Honor."
He took his salad and said,
"That's what they tell me, I'll have some bread"
End of conversation, nothing more to be said.
