There is simply not enough data presented in the video to say yea or nay.

Three things are needed to establish fact or fiction.

Precise opticals that can clearly "see" a large ship out to 55 miles.

A large ship of known height.

A method of precisely measuring miles out to 55 miles.

At https://www.mathopenref.com/sagitta.html , about half way down the page, is a calculator that will show the sagitta, or height of a curved segment in relation to it's cord. (There is a self explanatory picture.)

Assume an Earth radius of 4,000 miles.

Enter arc length (one degree of longitude) of 55 miles. This yields a sagitta of 499 feet.

An arc length of 1/2 degree of longitude (27 miles) yields a sagitta of 120 feet.

An arc length of 1/4 degree of longitude (14 miles) yields a sagitta of 32 feet.

A ship at these three distances would have the corresponding number of feet of height (sagitta) hidden from view by curvature.

As you can see a curvature of 32 feet at a distance of 14 miles is a very gentle decline from a fixed point. It would seem flat to the eye.

However, this is not an area of strength for me. Please get qualified expertise.

The aforementioned experiment would establish fact one way or the other. The matter of curvature or flatness would be laid to rest once and for all.
