I'm stuck here. Bay Area. I was in NC for a while in the 1970s. I tried living there in the Pinehurst region, but it didn't work out. The back yard was great in the rural areas. I could go beyond and walk for miles in the forest. The mosquitos were another matter. In school, most of my friends were black. They were also pretty smart and didn't shoot for the lowest common denominator for the most part. I miss some things about the place. The weather wasn't one of them.
As for people leaving, the viables are going away, and we're probably importing at least twice as twice as many unviables to make up for it. You'll find 'em in the streets terrorising the neighbourhoods. We've been politically destroyed from how it was, and quite frankly if we're nuked, I'm OK with it. I joked about wishing it possible to e-mail Putin and Jinping the longitude/latitude of the building we live in to nuke here first. I fully understand the outlander hostility to this state. I live here, and feel it 1000%. I'd leave if I could, not only the state, but the damn country. I'd be forced to improve my horrid Spanish in a hurry; if. . .
