Let's say you are sent a video (at youtube) and you want to post it up. There are several ways to do that. Once you learn this, it's going to be so easy to do ..

Any more questions, ask away.. I can't tell you how much I screwed up at first.. Brent (aka TangoDog and the original moderator of CGI) was a wonderful friend and a great helper..

First way..

Go to the page on youtube that the video is on

Click on 'share' right under the video and under the name of the video

Now click on Embed.. a small block-page with the html code will open up.

Copy the code by right-clicking your mouse and clicking on copy..
Paste the code in the white message box of your post on CGI. You can paste it above your text writing or below it, that's up to you.

Another, quicker way is to hover your cursor over the video.

Right-click your mouse and click on 'copy embed code.' So easy!!

You can do the same move to copy/paste the video url, too.

Right-click your mouse in the white text box of your post and click on paste (I'm sure you know this :-) The only problem with this quick way is that it usually pastes the vid very large. Look at the code below.

(I only posted the beginning with extra spaces, so it won't try to embed here)

Notice the numbers 854 and 480 .. The 480 height would be OK, but the 854 width is going to be way too large for RMN.. Simply highlight and (cut) erase the 8 and replace it with a 5, so it will be 554 instead of the 854.. Then post away.. Make sure you leave everything else like the " brackets. Anything within the 500 range should be OK for width on RMN.

Embedding photos.

The photo Must be on your computer. If you see one (online) that you want to use, right-click your mouse and save the photo to your documents folder or your desktop..

Go to the RMN post
At the bottom of the post there is a link that says 'image file uploader' Click on that. A new page will open, and it will ask you to 'Browse' for the image you want to upload. Click on that. When the small windows screen opens, navigate to where you downloaded the photo on your computer. After it has been selected, click on 'upload the above file/s' ..
The page will change, and it says 'Successfully uploaded'
You don't want to copy/paste the http address url, you want to copy the html url that begins like this

Paste the code (into the white text box on CGI) that looks like the above (with your photo's name on it - it will have your name or number on it)..
