For those of you that follow me on Instagram and Facebook you’ll already know that we found out the other week that despite mummy and daddy’s best efforts our Lil Sweet P’s ‘C’ has returned. This is devastating news and we’re all heartbroken that our newest addition, the one that battled so hard to get here is poorly and there’s nothing more mummy and daddy can do for her. Whilst me, Millie and Angelin aren’t yet on proper friendly terms with her, we’re getting there and we’re starting to make progress and have mostly stopped hissing and growling and have even been seen joining in with her playtime. We all know what she’s been through, we all started off in the same place – as a lonely poorly kitty wandering the streets of Cyprus, we know what a tough start to life she had and what a struggle she had to get better. We’ve all been there and we really do understand the hardship she’s been through and the journey she’s taken during her short life.
For us three though our hardship finished when we found our furrever home and we’re welcomed into the loving arms of our new furramily but sadly for Precious her troubles just kept on coming despite landing on her paws finding a place with us in our loving home. Her problems didn’t ease when she arrived with us but as you know mummy and daddy have worked hard and built her trust up, taught her how to play and watched her blossom into a chubby, fluffy, bouncy, tigger cat.
A couple of weeks ago was the toughest day we’ve had yet as a furramily, Lil P had (another) vet visit, it was the visit that mummy and daddy were dreading, the one that confirmed that despite everything they have tried and done for our little sisfur, Precious cancer is back and it’s aggressive. It’s in her ear again for sure but the big shock was that her nose wasn’t blocked and swollen with infection this time so it’s likely the nasties have spread to her lip/nose as well. Mummy and daddy have already done everything they can for her so all they can do now is keep her comfortable with some anti inflammatory medicine.
Needless to say mummy and daddy are absolutely devastated and heartbroken, mummy said that they feel powerless and numb, it wasn’t the plan they had for her and not the news they ever wanted to hear. Mummy and I talk about these things on our walkies and I know that all mummy and daddy want to do for us girls is to give us a happy home, full of love and kindness, somewhere warm to curl up at night and a plentiful supply of food and treats to keep our tummies full. A place where we feel safe, where we don’t have to worry and where we can live out our days safe in the knowledge that mummy and daddy will do whatever it takes to give us the life they told us we deserve when we joined the furramily. I’ll never forget that promise that mummy whispered to me every night when I first arrived, it’s the same promise she whispered to Millie and Angelin and more recently to Precious too.
“You are safe, you are loved, you are home”
I know from the way mummy talks that something has changed, mummy and I know each other so well, she can’t hide anything from me, I can tell from the tone of her voice which is different when she talks to Precious, she’s changed the way she talks to her whilst she’s brushing her, whilst she’s playing with her, whilst she cuddling with her, there an extra gentleness and calm to her voice that wasn’t there before. I can tell that mummy’s heart is heavy, that she feels sad, mummy might not realise it but I remember when mummy was like this before, when my my big sisfur Mia and my brofur Peppar was poorly. So I keep her company and keep her spirits up by running on my wheel and being mummy’s best bath buddy and when mummy and daddy are sleeping me, Millie and Angelin creep up and snuggle with them as they sleep as I know daddy is different recently too.
It seems that despite being so young our Sweet P is a purrfectly imperfect superhero like us and it turns out she has the most powerful superhero strength of all. It’s stronger than Millies tripaws super speed and even stronger than mine and Angelin’s blindie super senses, Lil P has something extraordinary, something truly unique. It turns out that this little kitty, my sisfur, has the greatest power of them all, the greatest power anyone could ever wish for, a power so strong it could change the whole world for the better, given time. Precious has the power to capture hearts, the power to unite people around the world with love. Pure, sweet, innocent love 💗.
The power that emanates from Lil P is strong, it transverses the world, Precious might not be blind but her powers are, not a single soul can resist the love that she emanates. Well, her story has spread far and wide and amongst all the hearts she’s captured there’s a group that have really been infected by her spirit, some very special little people on the other side of the world. You’ll remember the little hoomans that sent me mail, well, they really went to the next level with Previous, the entire class sent her a whole heap of get well cards, mummy said they were filled with lovely messages and each card had beautiful colours and pretty pictures, each hand drawn by a kind, caring, compassionate little person. Mummy said they are the most beautiful things she’s ever seen and that these are some very special kids who’s parents should be very proud.
We were all so touched by such kindness, such compassion and such love and coming from such young little humans made them even more special. I reckon these little people, Precious’ little fan club are going to grow up to be extraordinary people and go on to do amazing things.
Then, as if that wasn’t enough, we got sent the most beautiful poem by some of my furriends on Instagram, needless to say mummy, again had tears of love streaming down her cheeks, she said between sniffs, “what wonderful people there are in this world, who would have known that one tiny, poorly kitty could make such a big impact in this world. We’re so blessed to have found her.”
Mummy read the poem out loud to all of us and really there isn’t anything else I can say, so I will just leave you to read their beautiful words as they say it best. Until next time, thank you, we love you all and imagine if everybody could just be a bit more “Precious” how wonderful the world would be.
