Allstate is seeking an increase in its California homeowners insurance premiums by an average of 34%.

According to the California Department of Insurance, the Allstate homeowners filing was received by the Department on April 14, 2023. The initial rate request was 39.6%. Consumer Watchdog petitioned to intervene in July 2023. In January of this year, Allstate amended their rate request to 34.1%. According to a reports, it would be the largest rate increase this year and would impact more than 350,000 policyholders.

“This is a complicated rate filing where Allstate is switching complex wildfire models and introducing its wildfire mitigation discounts in compliance with the commissioner’s Safer From Wildfires regulation,” a CDI statement reads. “The rate filing is currently under review by the Department.”

If this doesn't get people to move out of thiS HELL HOLE, or keep them from coming here, nothing will. Covered calipornia should have been enough, but apparently that unconstitutional. . .is it a mandate or a law. . .didn't do it. (I'm making sure I don't have to pay it due to my low annual salary. I have the option of working full time, but I don't have to and I'm trying to be the biggest liability to the state and the system in general as I can be, because my circumstances allow it.)

Which reminds me. Are they gonna DEW any more towns off the map, like what they did to Paradise? There's still time for that. Summer's not quite a third over. Where I work has insane temps. Might as well be in Phoenix on the worst of the days. I'm surprised the area doesn't spontaneously combust. And judging from the forecasts, it's gonna be a long summer.

One more thang. De crime rate! A while back I asked my mechanic about how many catalytic converters he had to replace. I never saw him laugh so hard. Home invasions are insane, stores are disappearing due to shoplifting, and that has made life a little more inconvenient in some ways since some stores are no longer walking distance, not that they were visited more than a couple of times a year anyway; but still. . .

Anyone who still comes here has got to be dumber than a vacuum. Even the 'unviables'. In the short term, sure. But just y'all wait until the REALITY hits that you are just being used and it all ends. You'll be hung out to dry by the nose. (I'd pay to see that.)
