From what historical research I did, I was under the impression most of the 'Hebrews' were killed in The Great Revolt. First Century. It was a long time ago, but this is what I recall. I'm under the impression, not many Jews of today are genetically related to their ancient Chaldean offshoots, according to research done by Les Visible. And:

Islam. An offshoot of Judaism. Many rituals are the same, they have the same death angel (Azrael), the Koran was allegedly inspired by Gabriel, and it seems to me that with all the similarities, Islam is just a more charitable version of Islam. Islam seems to fight social evolution, however. Then again, so do the Orthadox Jews. My stepmother is a Muslim, and she once said, "What's the difference?" The Muslims seem to care more about the poor. Ramadan, the month of fasting is to see what it's like to go hungry, but only for daylight hours.

Then again, the Hebrews were supposed to leave ten percent of their fields for the poor. No clue how many did. Ideally, Muslims aren't supposed to be materialistic, though how many live up to that? (Tell it to the oil sheiks.) They also have an Afterworld. The O/T doesn't have one.

Both religions are heavily ritualised. I have no idea how anyone can think that does Source any good, but what ever mows their lawn. Some of these rituals are destructive. Animal sacrifices, circumcision (Female circumcision is NOT mandated in the Koran. That's a Pre-Islamic cultural thing that never went away.)

From what I've read, it seems like two sects of the same religion. The both acknowledge the flood, which was told in The Epic of Gilgamesh.
