How times have changed in 50 years. A lot of what is posted on RMN, today, makes it obvious for those of us old enough to remember.

Fifty or so years ago, for example, the buildup to America's Bicentennial was played up big. This included the United States Postal Service (USPS) which issued stamps to commemorate, for example, the Boston Tea Party, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Revolutionary War battles, and the people involved.

Fifty years later, you would hardly know we are approaching another big anniversary of American Independence.

Yesterday, April 19, 2025 was the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord that took place at Concord Bridge, where as Emerson put it, "once the embattled farmers stood and fired the shot heard round the world." It was the opening battle that ignited the war.
