As an American, I’m pretty sure a severe enough economic collapse of the United States would likely result in the disintegration of the country at this point. Americans are currently living in worse economic conditions than in the Great Depression, adjusting for inflation. This means that if/when the US collapses economically, it will likely cause uprisings in the US, leading to America’s collapse as a nation state, leading to massive global social unrest: like it or not, the US has interests in most parts of the world. In addition, should the US collapse in the near-term, it would likely drastically accelerate if not cause the immediate collapse of China due to the very close economic ties the two countries share. Therefore, in order to be shielded from the economic/political collapse of the United States, at least one or more criteria must be met:

As few economic or military ties as possible to the United States or China.
Food-sufficient
Relatively politically stable
Isolation from surrounding countries that may be affected, whether by sea or geographical features
Energy neutral or net energy exporter
This is a list that no country on Earth fully checks. Of the developed world, the EU member states may likely get off the best
