Go minimalist, and spend as little as possible. DO as little as possible. It also helps to refuse to breed. Don't drive unless absolutely necessary. NEVER LIVE BEYOND YOUR MEANS!

If everyone lived like that, what would the gubment do about it? No credit card, no telly, landline only, 33 year old car, work just hard enough to pay for life and have a little to set aside for keeping the car going, and we keep the overhead as low as we can. The only bills we have are internet/phone, PG&E, car insurance and Legal Shield. Well, I got annual car registration and other gubment extortion crap, but I manage to keep that as low as possible. We also no longer to to restaurants. Haven't been to one in years, and after what I cooked yesterday, one can see why. (It went up to 11.) Well, it also helps to live in the most cost effective flat in town, though if you're not one of those lucky 20, you're SOL. Our landlord is a saint.
