If you have ever travelled to black Africa, you would likely notice the number of people who approach random strangers to beg for money. They often harass tourists, visitors, and even fellow Africans whom they consider to be well-off. No one is exempt —from public officials to private-sector workers—even the police. Nowhere is this more prevalent than in Nigeria.

I’ve often wondered why some people are so willing to accept money from strangers. It’s something I can never fully understand. In my opinion, when you are comfortable accepting hard-earned money from others, you may have lost your sense of rationality. Money, like anything else that is earned, should not simply be given away for free. Am I strange for thinking this way?

It's not just Africa. You're going to see this in other impoverished countries. India is one that I remember. In some places, they don't ask. They assault or kill you.
