I knew you could ripen tomatoes by putting them with others but had not heard that you could hang them upside down to ripen them .. I don't know where I would hang them.. Maybe over the pool table in the lower level?? lol.. I guess I could hang them on the utilities side of the basement with the furnace and water heater .. Plenty of space over there.. ?? Thanks for the info.
Walking into instant summer, in the middle of winter, sounds heavenly, yes?? Ages ago, I used to work for a local florist and picking up flowers in the early AM hours was part of the job. I loved going to the greenhouses. The entire world would fall away while surrounded by silence, the smell of fresh earth and green things.. I would have taken a job there but they didn't pay very much. Besides, I loved working with the flowers especially around the Holidays..
If you get a picture of one, send it my way.. I'd love to see it.. !!

: A Wallipinis one of these days would be wonderful! My ultimate
: dream is an attached pit (basement) level green house that
: I can walk into during the winter - it would really lighten
: the long winter haul up here - but at this point I'd be
: happy with a small real garden. I really can't complain
: about my current lakeside home - over the weekend I saw a
: white heron for the first time in my life. There are always
: the Great Blue around here, and they were on the river at
: my childhood country home too, but I'd never even heard of
: Great White Herons! Now I have to hope that I am lucky
: enough to take a picture of one. It's really something to
: see a white heron floating by the window beyond my computer
: screen!
