What this gentleman is saying,along with his graphs is done for the layman.Very interesting, made me think about natural resources being hoarded to raise prices also.He is so right about Hoarding and Society....

.... I have identified a few items that enabled us to move from our life as hunter-gatherers to a civilised life. These include:

Food came to us rather than us going to food. We now call this agriculture.

....A set of rules. The rule makers were called religious people and they tied it up with belief systems. The individual was introduced to a ‘Value System’ and self-evaluated his actions as right or wrong by using his ‘conscience’. If you are good, you go to heaven. If you are bad, you go to hell. Thus “Be good.” and “Do the right thing.” act as instructions. This has some advantages over our current nation-based negative legal systems where it is difficult to encourage good behaviour. In a nation-state, there are only negative rules. If you do this we chop your fingers off or put you in a jail to be abused by others. Religions tend to control people without chopping fingers and incarceration.

....Our ancestors learned that if they tied one man to one woman, they harnessed the energy of the male. Males would have been troublesome until they were tied into a family unit. To do so, required strong customs. When a woman has a baby, it is clear who the mother is, but less clear who the father is. Throughout history, we never had a problem persuading girls to get married, but we always had a problem getting males to get married. That is why the rules were written the way they were. We are currently destroying family units. As a society, we have never had a problem getting females to get married, but we have always had a problem getting males to get married. That is why the rules were set up the way they were. We have always needed incentives to get the males to marry. So we wrote rules to encourage males to marry and keep families together. Any society that did not keep these procedures intact simply disappeared. Our western society may disappear as we allow western media to override the value system. The concept of individual rights is currently being used to override the needs of a sustainable society and the backbone of a civilization.

....Money tokens were invented to enable interpersonal trade. This encouraged trade between strangers and allowed the production of food to be more remote from consumers. Money tokens hold the value of a previous transaction across to the next transaction. Money only needs to be a temporary store of value. We possibly had a ‘giving society’, before we civilized, where individuals would give their excess to others and the favor would be reciprocated at other times. This still occurs in families. Money enabled the ‘giving’ transactions to become impersonal and remote. But these money systems were both flawed and imperfect from their inception. The money system is constantly prone to all manner of manipulation, hoarding, and corruption.

....All the above items and more are required to operate a society. Failure of any of the above will push society into crisis or collapse or disappearance. However, nothing will cause collapse quicker than a collapse of the money system.
