Spread The Love

A family member that works at an assisted living nursing home where a 80 year man lives. His name is Fred. Well, one day while one of the staff members went on vacation to California and while in California she sent back post cards to some of the residents and one to Fred.

Little back story on Fred.
He grew up on a family farm in the Ozarks in Missouri doing most all the labor work, just him and his younger brother. Back breaking labor work. Out in the fields from sunup to sundown. His father never gave him the time or chance to go to school, so he grew up not being educated, as not being able to read or write. His father was physically abusive towards the kids from a young age. Beating them often for any infraction he deemed necessary. Fred grew up a quite, but humble man. He could fix almost anything with his hands. And at age 80 his mind was still sharp as a whip.

OK, while the staff member was in California she sent some post cards back to some of the residents. So one day the mail came in and Fred was told he received a postcard from Jenny. Since Fred could not read it, he asked a staff member at the nursing to read it to him.

The letter read..

"Hi Fred, Hope you are doing well. I am here in California having a great time. The sun is out mostly all day. The birds are singing as I am writing this. I went to the beach yesterday and it was so beautiful. The white sand was hot to walk on, but the ocean water was cold on my feet.
Well, I'll see you Fred in a couple days when I get back to work. Love you, Jenny"

Fred look at the girl that was reading the post card and Fred started to cry very intensely. Sobbing. And Kelly the girl that read the letter to Fred ask why he was crying?

Fred looked up from where he was sitting and tried to stop crying and said "No one has ever told me, that they loved me"

The moral of this true story is that we need to tell people that we love them. Because one of those people we meet could be just like Fred.
