Watchtowers, in enochian magic, are cardinal points. North, South, East, West... Then he also writes about the 'White Goddess.' Could that be the Gnostic Sophia?

Perhaps he practiced a type of 'invocation' using the vast stores of knowledge to write his songs? Perhaps he was intuitive enough to feel this field and draw from it?

Another very Gnostic sounding lyric to, 'Romance In Durango,' is this:
