That's an excellent question, Morgan.. Growing up with 4 brothers, I tended to fish, dig worms, climb high and built tree houses, play G.I Joe and with Tonka Trucks on dirt trails but I also liked dressing up Barbie and got my brothers to play house or store.. We lived on a creek bank so finding critters (alive or dead) was a daily experience..

Two of the other girls who grew up near me, also played in the dirt (so to speak) and we played hard .. One became an ER Trauma nurse and the other an EMT. None of us were really squeamish around gore. They worked with it every day but I didn't like it.

I hate it when good TV shows are ruined (in my opinion) with gratuitous gore. Game of Thrones was disgusting. I watched the series because everyone said how great it was but was turned off by the constant disgusting scenes..

Snakes, I don't like. I think that has to do with being bit by one on a fishing trip. My grand-daughter has a 2 foot bearded lizard named Jupiter that is pretty cool. Bugs, eh.. big deal..

A long time ago, I read an article in readers digest that said people who like horror movies and gore were extreme risk takers and imaginative. They tended to value intensity, rebellion and edginess over common place.. People who were turned off by gore tended to be more empathic, they were less able to detach from the stories (movies) or the people in pain.

I'm a mixture of the two, it seems.. And so are you. While I think you're more of the first persona, you saved animals and that shows a deeply caring empathic side...
