Not sure why they keep throwing this polar vortex into the news cycle, other then perhaps with winter(which is still a month out)coming, one of these weeks they are going to guess right.We had this 'scare' a couple weeks back, and although it got cooler,the vortex as they predicted was a no show.

Now to this upcoming week, I quote the source here...
Some regions are already starting to see record-breaking cold. International Falls, Minnesota hit -46 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday, its fifth-lowest temperature on record. And the weather service in Des Moines, Iowa stated: “This is the coldest air many of us will have ever experienced.”

If one looks at this chart for the weather over the past week in International Falls, Minnesota, one will find that the real low temp this past Sunday was no where near the reported low of minus 46,hell if we go off that number, I can tell you it was a 'balmy' 27 degrees for the Lo that day.

I also pulled up the 10 day forecast for both Minnesota and Boston and neither forecast for such weather.
