Money, I think, in it's truest sense would be something a man produces, of tradable value, above basic survival.

Metal has no inherent value in and of itself. It is impressed into servitude as a representative of factual production.

The framers of the Constitution chose to represent this tradable value with silver, the metal of common trade. Gold, the metal of the gods, was made subordinate to silver.

Congress was tasked with presenting sufficient silver to circulation to represent the tradable value produced by men according to population and circumstances. This was an effort to keep the value of monetary silver stable and reliable. It was workable.

There were no retirement plans available at that time so it was expected that a man should put some of the tradable value that he produced aside for later years, if possible. This natural sequestration of a man's own production had little effect on the value of money in circulation.

Currency is entirely different in that it is not based on the relative constant of individual production of value above basic survival. It is a synthetic value based on whatever the market will bear. The manipulation of these monetary currents sustain the maritime corporations as they sail relentlessly towards profits and power.

Currency can serve as money but it is not the same thing. It is a contrivance and a pure fiction with no organic basis and subject to intent of the owner.
